An initial encounter

So we had a meeting last night with a birth mother -- and HER mother. Very nice young lady and a very caring parent. Carla and I were impressed with the depth of some of the questions the young lady asked, and tried to just relax and let her see what kind of people we are.

During the MEETING we were pretty relaxed. But now Carla is back to her earlier level of frenetic energy. We have a long holiday weekend ahead of us -- a VERY long holiday weekend -- and I get the feeling that my job will be to keep Carla distracted. After all, I am the MAN in the picture, and it is my job to remain calm and emotionally distant. Keep thinking about real men like John Wayne -- stoic, austere. If the birth mother does choose us, then we have to mobilize a small invasion of our spare bedroom in order to prepare, and we can actually start DOING something. Carla and I are both good at that.

But for now, it is a matter of keeping the head and neck attached to each other from one moment to the next.
