And we are off ...

I was on a call at the office today, when my phone rang, dumping the call into voice mail. I was off the call for about two minutes when the phone rang again.

"It's your wife." Did you get my message?"

I had not.

Carla related that LCFS had called her and said that a birth mother wanted to meet with us on Thursday -- day after tomorrow. This is a bit quick, as we only recently went through the home study process and have yet to get our foster parent license -- required for adoptive parents in the State of Wisconsin -- into our hands. We have met the requirements -- but were not expecting to need the actual document so soon.

Carla sounds like she is about ready to just vibrate into the next dimension. If Carla were to consume six or seven of the diet energy drinks I have taken to drinking these days -- this is what I expect she would sound like. It will be interesting to see how long it takes her to return to her normal waking state.

This is going to be a real rollercoaster ride, and I expect to witness a few of these highs and maybe a few lows before we get to the end of the process. We have no idea what the outcome of this meeting will be. It could be a dry run or it could immediately result in an immediate change in our lifestyles and daily realities.

But for the time being, we will accept any and all prayers for us Thursday evening when we meet the birthmother.
